TEC discuss the current state of affairs with the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, James Brokenshire

The Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, the Rt. Hon. James Brokenshire MP today attended a roundtable meeting with TEC and wider community leaders in Stamford Hill.
The roundtable was convened by Levi Schapiro, TEC member and Director of the Jewish Community Council and was chaired by Mr Shimon Cohen, TEC’s Director of Campaigns. Other participants included Mr Berish Berger – Chairman of the Torah Education Committee – Mrs Chaya Spitz – Chief Executive of the Interlink Foundation, Councillor Michael Levy and Rabbi BentziSudak – Chief Executive of Chabad Lubavitch UK – who hosted the meeting at Lubavitch House. The Secretary of State was accompanied by his Special Advisor Lee Scott and Rabbi ChaskelDovid Halberstam JCC President and Mr Binyomin Roth JCC Chairman also attended.
Wide-ranging discussions focussed on the current state of affairs in education, together with wider issues in response to the recent Green Paper on Community Cohesion. The Secretary of State listened intently to TEC’s concerns and encouraged further dialogue in the future.

Shimon Cohen,Director of Campaigns at TEC said: “we look forward continuing our dialogue with the department and hope to ensure education policy takes into account the unique needs of our schools at this pivotal time.”
